Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) in Webster, TX is seeking a part-time Veterinary Technician for our Emergency/ICU team. Licensed technicians earn $22-$30/hr, with non-credentialed staff at $18-$28/hr and an additional $3/hr weekend differential.

The role involves supporting emergency care, exams, diagnostics, treatments, and anesthesia, with 1-2 12-hour shifts weekly and days to be determined.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technicians with at least 2 years in ER/ICU.
• Emergency and critical care experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Fluent English (spoken and written) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to all hospitalized and emergency patients.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Perform restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, radiographs, lab work, and medication administration.
• Accurately prepare and administer treatments per orders and hospital protocols.
• Collaborate across departments for coordinated patient care.
• Respond to STAT calls and follow emergency protocols.
• Create treatment estimates, review plans with clients, process payments, and manage admissions/discharges.
• Communicate with clients professionally, with empathy and clarity.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
• Support hospital cleanliness, safety, and inventory management.
• Perform anesthesia and sedation following established protocols.
• Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with additional duties as needed.

Compensation

• Non-Credentialed Veterinary Technicians: $18-$28/ hr. based on experience
• + $3/hr. weekend differential (Saturday-Sunday)

• 7:00am – 8:00pm

Job Description

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technicians or Experienced Veterinary Technicians with at least 2 year of experience.
• Prior experience in Emergency and Critical Care is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to thrive under pressure and make informed decisions in fast-paced situations.
• A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to patient well-being.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
