Job summary

Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas (AEHNT) in Grapevine, TX is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 ER team. You will provide advanced nursing care, perform diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care support in a high-acuity environment.

Join a collaborative team offering exposure to diverse cases and opportunities for professional growth. This full-time overnight position runs Sunday through Wednesday, 10:00pm–7:00am, with potential schedule

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred.
  • Minimum two years veterinary experience encouraged.
  • Previous emergency or specialty experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills: venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, patient monitoring.
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance preferred.
  • Knowledge of radiology safety and fluid therapy.
  • Experience administering medications via SQ, IM, IV.
  • Phlebotomy, catheter placement, and restraint techniques.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate nursing care to emergency and hospitalized patients throughout treatment and recovery.
  • Place IV catheters, collect blood samples, administer medications, and manage IV fluids.
  • Assist with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and supportive care procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with emergency and surgical procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and communicate changes in condition.
  • Restrain and handle patients while ensuring comfort and minimal stress.
  • Assist with post-operative monitoring and recovery.
  • Document treatments and observations in medical records.
  • Communicate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and clients regarding care plans.
  • Maintain clean, stocked treatment and emergency areas.

Compensation

Job Description

The Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician provides exceptional nursing care and technical support for critically ill and injured patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role works closely with veterinarians to perform advanced diagnostics, treatments, anesthesia monitoring, and supportive care while ensuring compassionate patient care and excellent client communication.

As a key member of the overnight team, you'll play an essential role in triage, stabilization, patient monitoring, and emergency procedures while helping maintain efficient hospital operations during critical overnight hours.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate nursing care to emergency and hospitalized patients throughout treatment and recovery.
  • Place IV catheters, collect blood samples, administer medications, and manage IV fluid therapy.
  • Assist with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and supportive care procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with emergency and surgical procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Safely restrain and handle patients while maintaining comfort and minimizing stress.
  • Assist with post-operative patient monitoring and recovery.
  • Accurately document treatments, diagnostics, and patient observations within medical records.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and clients regarding patient care plans.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and emergency areas.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred.
