Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team. Play a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools like radiography, ultrasound, biopsies, and cytology while assisting with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Schedule: 4x10 hour weekday shifts.

Pay: $24.50 - $49.00 / hour. This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician role supporting oncology patients.
• Experience with chemotherapy procedures and client education is beneficial.
• Ability to interpret vital signs and abnormal lab values.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters for chemotherapy.
• Safely prepare, dispense, and administer chemotherapy agents.
• Verify chemotherapy calculations and IV setups.
• Recognize chemotherapy extravasation and respond appropriately.
• Admit/discharge patients, taking histories and educating clients.
• Communicate with clients and veterinary teams about treatment and side effects.
• Understand tumor types and oncology protocols.
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring for ASA I & II patients.
• Stay current with CPR guidelines and hospital protocols.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team!

Play a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools like radiography, ultrasound, biopsies, and cytology while assisting with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

_ This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. _

As an Oncology Technician, you will:

• Performphysical exams, assess vital signs, and recognize abnormal lab values.

• Conductphlebotomyand placeIV cathetersfor chemotherapy administration.

• Safelyprepare, dispense, and administeroral, SC, and IM chemotherapy agents.

• Verifychemotherapy calculations, dosages, and proper IV catheter setup.

• Recognize and respond tochemotherapy extravasation.

• Admit and discharge patients, obtaining history and educating clients ontreatment, side effects, and home care.

• Communicate effectively withclients and veterinary teams, addressing concerns and facilitating calls.

• Understandtumor types, diagnostic protocols, and oncology-specific terminology.

• Assist withanesthesia monitoringfor ASA I & II patients.

• Stay current onR.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelinesand hospital protocols.

• Perform other relevant role responsibilities.
