Job summary

The Highlands Veterinary Hospital in Sparta, New Jersey is hiring for a full-time or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Technician. The role involves assisting veterinarians with exams, surgery, anesthesia and patient recovery, with emphasis on compassionate animal handling and client communication.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of vet experience, knowledge of common diseases, and familiarity with DEA/OSHA safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of veterinary experience.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate clearly with clients, including care instructions and updates.
• Perform lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean and stocked.

Job description

Salary: $22 - $25 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. $1,500 Sign On Bonus!

Schedule: Full-time and part-time positions available.

• Part-Time (22.5-29 hrs/week): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday
• Full-Time (35-40 hrs/week): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday

Shift times are as follows:

• Friday: 1:30 PM - 7:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

The Highlands Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time or part time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. • Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs individually and over 50 lbs with a team lift. Must be able to squat, bend, sit, and stand when needed and possibly for long periods of time.
