Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health in Redwood City, CA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician – Internal Medicine to join the SAGE Redwood City Internal Medicine team. The role supports complex diagnostic workups, anesthesia, and advanced procedures in a four 10-hour shift schedule (7:30 AM–6:00 PM).

You will work with specialists performing endoscopy, bronchoscopy, CT and other diagnostics, delivering high-level nursing care and client communication in a busy specialty hospital.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of veterinary medicine experience preferred.
• Internal Medicine experience preferred.
• Strong anesthesia knowledge and monitoring experience.
• Advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographic positioning, CRIs, and hospitalized patient care.
• Experience with Internal Medicine procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, or cystoscopy desirable.
• Excellent communication, time-management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for Internal Medicine patients.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics.
• Prepare and assist with endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, biopsies, and aspiration cytology.
• Support advanced diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, CT, and fluoroscopy.
• Provide anesthesia support, including patient preparation, anesthetic monitoring, and recovery.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under veterinarian supervision.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.

Veterinary Technician – Internal Medicine

Up to $40.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential (6:00 PM–6:00 AM)

Full-time opportunity in Redwood City, California

Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts | 7:30 AM–6:00 PM

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

• Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for Internal Medicine patients.

• Provide anesthesia support, including patient preparation, anesthetic monitoring, and recovery.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under veterinarian supervision.
• Assist with NG tube placement, fluid pumps, and other advanced Internal Medicine patient care.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained.
• Communicate compassionately with clients and collaborate across Internal Medicine, Emergency, and Specialty teams.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of veterinary medicine experience strongly preferred
• Internal Medicine experience strongly preferred.
• High level of veterinary anesthesia knowledge and anesthetic monitoring experience.
• Advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographic positioning, CRIs, and hospitalized patient care.
• Experience with Internal Medicine procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, or cystoscopy highly desirable.
• Strong animal handling and patient restraint skills.
• Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, CRIs, client estimates, and other veterinary medical calculations.
• Excellent communication, time-management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license preferred.
