Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and current licensure (preferred).
• Veterinary Technician III checklist experience (preferred).
• Five or more years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice (preferred).
• Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate compassion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, observational and analytical skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the practice’s team and deliver high-level veterinary care.

• Perform technician duties including inventory management, mentoring, and client handling.

What You’ll Do

• Support the practice’s team, setting the bar for high‑level veterinary medical care and embodying the Chewy mission to work together with peers and deliver a pet‑parent WOW experience.
• Implement policies and procedures using integrated technology and deliver consistent, appropriate medical care within your skill set.
• Perform technician duties including teamwork training, inventory management, mentoring, and handling client complaints.
• Provide patient care such as blood transfusion, oxygen cage, cardiac monitoring, dentistry, wound care, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring for unstable or high‑risk patients, and routinely handle animal bodily fluids and tissues.
• Demonstrate team support and care for others’ work experiences.
• Follow the practice’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOC).
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with Team Members, keeping veterinarians updated in real time on patient updates (in practice, at referral, and home care).
• Act as a PIMS administrative super‑user and assist teammates in using the technology.
• Maintain controlled‑substance logs and work responsibly with pharmacy holdings.
• Assist the practice manager with inventory needs communication.
• Clean workspaces after each patient or lab sample interaction.
• Participate in self‑development courses and required compliance training.
• Perform related duties and assignments as advised by management.
• May be required to work weekends and travel.

What You’ll Need

• Completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and current licensure (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to fulfill the Veterinary Technician III checklist.
• Five or more years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice (preferred).

Physical Job Requirements

• Standing or walking up to 80 % of the shift.
• Frequently lift 50–70 pounds, optionally with a team lift.
• Occasionally lift greater than 70 pounds using a team lift.
• Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel as needed.
