Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (AMVA) and two years of veterinary technician experience including one year in a research facility.
• Associate’s degree (AVMA) and six years of veterinary technician experience including one year in a research facility may be considered.
• VTNE certification must be provided upon hire; license/registration required.
• AALAS Laboratory Animal Technologist level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes, and processes samples for research, diagnostic, and clinical purposes.
• Performs technical procedures for researchers.
• Coordinates scheduling of technical procedures with research staff and logs time for chargebacks.
• Maintains rodent colonies, including breeding, and assists with rodent health surveillance.
• Performs drug dose calculations for preparation and administration of pharmaceuticals.
• Prepares animals for surgery.

Education

Bachelor's degree AMVA program with 2 years veterinary technician experience incl. 1 year in research facility

Associate’s degree AVMA program with 6 years veterinary technician experience incl. 1 year in research facility
