This position provides hospital staff coverage for any time off, sick time, holidays, after-hours, weekend coverage, or to assist with high volume demands. This position offers flexibility and requires a higher level of technical skills and knowledge. This is an administrative professional position requiring a minimum of 30-hours/week. Our deep partnership with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences amplifies our impact, enabling us to boldly innovate and share knowledge widely. ## Essential Job Duties:* Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate regarding patient care with other technicians, DVMs, students, clients, and other departments to ensure procedural readiness and efficient daily operations.* Prioritize patient care tasks and make workflow adjustments to ensure efficiency in daily operations.* Perform and assist with routine medical procedures and tasks that include, but are not limited to venipuncture, IV catheterization, fluid administration, electrodiagnostic procedures, blood pressure monitoring, cystocentesis, fluid administration, therapeutic support, bandage and wound management, and diagnostic sample submission.* Perform and assist with complex medical procedures and tasks that include, but are not limited to running anesthesia, acting as a scrub nurse or circulating nurse, placing abdominal, thoracic, esophagostomy, or PEG tubes, performing dental procedures, advanced patient monitoring and, advanced patient care for emergent and critical cases.* Manage consult lines, triaging cases, and provide information to potential referral clients and DVMs, which may require explaining medical conditions and hospital procedures, assisting with appointment scheduling, preparing financial estimates and help clients plan their visit.* Support staffing needs by filling open staff shifts due to PTO, extended leave, training commitments, and unanticipated absences to reduce reliance on overtime, staff reassignments, and case delays or cancellations.## ## Conditions of Employment:* Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).* Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and, welfare. ## Supervision:None ## Minimum Qualifications:* An associate degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology AND two years of experience assisting in veterinary medical care, administering anesthesia, and assisting in veterinary surgery.* Registered as a Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician (PVT) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) by start date* Credentialed in the State of Colorado or other eligible states determined by CACVT. ## Preferred Qualifications:* Demonstration of exceptional animal handling skills and proficiency in performing medical techniques, medical calculations, performing sedation/anesthesia, and assisting in surgery.* Excellent and compassionate communication skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate a variety of routine procedures and medical conditions to clients in an understandable way.* Ability and experience in training and teaching veterinary medical techniques and medical concepts to various levels of veterinary interns and students.* Flexibility in adapting to the demands, schedules, and work styles of various departments, teams, and patients in the VTH and PVM program. ## Application Instructions:This position will remain open until filled.
