Job summary

VCA Dallas Animal Specialty Hospital is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in Dallas, TX. The role requires 3 years of veterinary medicine experience, with ICU or specialty experience preferred. Salary ranges from $22 to $27 per hour, based on experience, with differential pay for swing/overnight/weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and recover anesthesia.
  • Perform venipuncture and IVC placement.
  • Maintain central line care.
  • Provide feeding tube management.
  • Manage chest tubes and urinary catheters.
  • Monitor ECG and vital signs.
  • Assist with surgeries and exams.
  • Maintain thorough medical records and patient communication.

VCA Dallas Animal Specialty Hospital (formerly VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic) is seeking an enthusiastic Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our growing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team! 3 years of Veterinary Medicine Experience needed. ICU or Specialty experience preferred.

Location: 17727 Dallas Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75287

Salary: $22 - $27/hour, based on experience.

Differential pay for swing/overnight/weekend shifts.

Veterinary Technician Duties:
  • Anesthesia monitoring/recovery
  • Patient intubation
  • Venipuncture / IVC placement
  • Central line maintenance
  • Feeding tube placement and/or management
  • Chest tube management
  • Urinary catheter placement and/or management
  • ECG monitoring
  • Surgical site and wound monitoring
  • Follow chemotherapy and infectious disease protocols
  • Perform physical therapy on post-op patients
  • Provide supplemental oxygen to critical patients
  • Participate in CPR
  • Calculate drug doses
  • Reconstitute drugs
  • Administer SQ, IV, IM injections
  • Obtain and submit lab samples
  • Work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services
  • Maintain thorough medical records
  • Assist clinicians with exams and procedures
  • Client education/communication
  • Provide compassionate care for all patients
