Job summary

McGehee Clinic for Animals in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced full-time Veterinary Technician to join our AHAA-accredited practice. We are a five-doctor team within the Suveto network, known for a family-oriented culture and long-tenured staff.

As a Veterinary Technician, you will perform medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under a licensed veterinarian, support exams, venipuncture, imaging, anesthesia support, and client education.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivated with a positive attitude.
• Flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
• Ability to multitask and work well in a team.
• Basic veterinary medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist doctors during appointments.
• Take client hist​ories and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative care and provide follow-up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to the veterinary team.
• Perform venipuncture, in-house labs, and coordinate external tests.
• Provide nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients under veterinarian supervision.
• Admit and discharge patients following hospital protocols; educate on procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, and wards.
• Operate practice software for medications, foods, labels, and records.
• Ensure OSHA and hospital safety standards are followed.
• Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarians.
• Assist in anesthesia induction/maintenance and in surgical suites.
• Support post-op care and follow-up with clients.
• Make client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.
