Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Hospital Palm Beach Gardens is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Emergency/ICU team. Located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, this full-time role supports veterinarians, monitors critical patients, and assists with emergencies around the clock.

The ideal candidate brings clinical experience in a specialty setting, surgery/anesthesia exposure, and flexibility to float to other departments as needed. AVMA-accredited education is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service preferred.
  • Surgery and anesthesia experience preferred.
  • Willingness to float to other specialty departments if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients.
  • Assist Emergency/ICU teams to maximize productivity and patient flow.
  • Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment prep.
  • Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients and communicate status changes.
  • Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments per vets' directions.

VSH of PBG is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency/ICU TEAM!

About You

Your Experience & Skills
  • Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, NOT required! Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply!
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is highly preferred
  • Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred
  • Willingness to float to other specialty departments if the need arises is required
  • A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Role Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
  • Assist the Emergency and ICU teams to maximize productivity and maintain efficient patient flow
  • Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment preparation
  • Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients, recognizing and communicating changes in patient status
  • Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments as directed by veterinarians and within Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment including infusion pumps, oxygen therapy devices, ECG monitors, and other critical care equipment
  • Assist with emergency procedures, CPR, and stabilization efforts
  • Communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and Thrive Membership options
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems
  • Obtain relevant patient histories and client information
  • Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment and ICU areas
  • Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture
