Job summary

The PARC, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner in Fort Worth, TX, seeks a full-time Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician for our 24/7 ICU. You will provide advanced nursing care, monitor critical patients, manage CRIs, and assist with anesthesia in a high-acuity setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of clinical experience as a veterinary technician in an Emergency and/or Intensive Care setting.
  • ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience providing advanced nursing care to hospitalized, high‑acuity ICU patients.
  • Proven ability to monitor critical patients and interpret BP, ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂, with intervention when needed.
  • Hands-on experience with CRIs, multimodal drug infusions and complex fluid therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced ICU nursing care for hospitalized, high‑acuity patients, including continuous monitoring.
  • Monitor patient data (BP, ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂) and communicate medical decisions.
  • Manage CRIs and complex fluid therapy with strong medical math skills.
  • Perform and maintain central lines, NG tubes, long‑term catheters, and infection control.
  • Support higher‑risk anesthesia cases and postoperative recovery.
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced procedures and ensure thorough medical records.
  • Collaborate with vets and multidisciplinary teams for evolving treatment plans.
  • Mentor ER technicians and develop ICU staff; maintain calm focus in intense cases.

The PARC is looking to add a full-time Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician to their team!

As an ER Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2+ years of clinical experience as a veterinary technician in an Emergency and/or Intensive Care setting
  • ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated experience providing advanced nursing care to hospitalized, high‑acuity ICU patients
  • Proven ability to continuously monitor critical patients, interpret BP, ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂, and recognize subtle clinical changes requiring intervention
  • Hands‑on experience managing CRI’s, multimodal drug infusions, and complex fluid therapy, with strong medical math skills
  • Solid understanding of disease progression, treatment plans, and medication protocols for critically ill patients
  • Experience with central line and NG tube placement and maintenance, long‑term catheter care, and infection‑control best practices
  • Comfortable supporting higher‑risk anesthesia cases (ASA III–V preferred) and prolonged post‑operative recovery
  • Experience assisting with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries
  • Strong documentation skills, including accurate medical records, trend tracking, and shift‑to‑shift case continuity
  • Ability to collaborate closely with veterinarians and multidisciplinary teams on evolving treatment plans
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support ER technicians, assistants, or developing ICU staff
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in emotionally intense, high‑stress ICU environments
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
You’re Willing and Able To
  • Provide advanced ICU nursing care for hospitalized, high‑acuity patients, including continuous monitoring and early recognition of subtle clinical changes
  • Monitor and interpret patient data (BP, ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂), trending vitals, laboratory results, fluid balance, and pain scores to support timely medical decisions
  • Manage CRIs, multimodal drug infusions, and complex fluid therapy using strong medical math skills
  • Perform and maintain central lines, NG tubes, and long‑term catheters while adhering to strict infection‑control protocols
  • Support higher‑risk anesthesia cases and prolonged post‑operative and critical recovery care
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries in accordance with the Veterinary Practice Act
  • Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and ensure clear shift‑to‑shift communication and case continuity
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians and the medical team to support evolving treatment plans and positive patient flow
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient status, medications, and treatment plans
  • Utilize safe restraint techniques and maintain clean, organized, and sterile ICU, treatment, and exam areas
  • Mentor and support ER technicians, assistants, and developing ICU staff while maintaining calm focus in emotionally intense cases
