Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health’s Charleston Veterinary Referral Center is hiring a full-time Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician for the Charleston, SC location. The role supports our fast-paced critical care team with a focus on patient assessments, triage, lab work, and collaborating with veterinarians to deliver exceptional care.

The position offers a swing shift, 36 hours per week, and compensation of $24.00–$34.00 per hour plus shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience, preferably in emergency or critical care.
• LVT certification preferred, but not required.
• Strong knowledge of patient restraint, phlebotomy, anesthesia, medical math, laboratory procedures, and emergency nursing skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient during high-acuity emergency situations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilinguals a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency and critical care patients.
• Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and emergency triage.
• Collect diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and other laboratory specimens.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
• Monitor patients receiving oxygen therapy, fluid therapy, blood products, and advanced treatments.
• Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics, anesthesia, and critical care interventions.
• Operate laboratory equipment and perform in-house diagnostic testing.
• Accurately calculate medications and treatment dosages.
• Maintain detailed medical records and communicate patient updates with the medical team.
• Provide compassionate client communication and discharge education.
• Collaborate with Emergency, Critical Care, and Specialty teams to ensure exceptional patient care.
