BluePearl Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers a $18.45–$42.00 per hour pay range with shift differentials and a robust benefits package.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform digital radiography, monitor vitals, and assist veterinarians with critical patient care.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician in Emergency and Critical Care.
• Ability to induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia.
• Proficient in triage, monitoring vitals, and radiography.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR when necessary.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Place feeding tubes and manage central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Provide compassionate client communication.

Pay

$18.45 - $42.00/hour

• This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.00
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.00
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $4.50

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
