BluePearl Pet Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician for its busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The position is overnight with weekends/holidays/on-call; four 10-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts weekly.

You will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, obtain vitals, and perform radiography while supporting a team of veterinary professionals in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Active RVT license or state certification in Michigan
• Experience in emergency or critical care settings preferred
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and provide postoperative care

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using monitoring equipment
• Triage and assess emergency cases, record vitals
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning
• Monitor patient vitals and alert Veterinarian to changes
• Administer medications and calculate doses as directed
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Mentor and train junior staff and maintain client communication

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

The schedule for this position will be overnight shift. This will include weekends, holidays, and on-call. Possible four 10-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts per week.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
