Job description

Riverside Veterinary Clinic - Haverhill, MA

Compensation: $28-$32/hour, based on experience and credentialing

Riverside Veterinary Clinic is looking for a positive, experienced, and leadership-minded Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our team as a Lead CVT.

This is a strong opportunity for a technician who enjoys being hands-on in patient care but is also ready to help support workflow, training, communication, and team accountability. Our ideal candidate is someone who can bring steady leadership to the floor, help newer team members grow, and partner with hospital leadership to keep the day moving smoothly.

Riverside has been part of the Haverhill community for nearly 40 years. We are a well-established small animal practice with a long-standing client base, a dedicated team, and a wide range of experience across our doctors and support staff. Many of our team members are long-tenured, and we are looking for someone who can help us continue building a positive, collaborative, and well-supported environment.

About Our Hospital

Riverside is a busy, full-service small animal practice with five exam rooms, a large reception area, and a seven-doctor team. Our services include preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, ultrasound, and diagnostics.

Our technicians are used to their full capabilities here. This is not a restraint-only role. Our team supports appointments, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, client communication, and overall patient care. We also value flexibility and teamwork, so many of our team members are cross-trained and willing to help where needed.

Our hospital offers:

  • Digital dental radiography
  • Full-body radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Echo capabilities through our Medical Director
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Orthopedic procedures with contracted surgeons
  • Dental cleanings and oral surgery
  • A long-standing community reputation
  • Experienced doctors and support team members
About the Role

The Lead CVT will help provide day-to-day support for the treatment team while also remaining active in patient care. This person will help ensure the team is prepared, organized, and working together effectively.

This role may include:

  • Supporting daily treatment floor flow
  • Helping ensure doctors, technicians, assistants, appointments, and surgery patients are prepared for the day
  • Assisting with surgery and anesthesia support
  • Supporting dentistry and dental radiography
  • Performing technical nursing duties within credentialed technician scope
  • Helping train, mentor, and support technicians and assistants
  • Assisting with task delegation and follow-through
  • Helping create fair rotation of downtime tasks and daily responsibilities
  • Supporting team morale through positive, steady leadership
  • Partnering with hospital leadership to improve communication and workflow
  • Cross-training or assisting with front desk support when needed

This is a good fit for someone who enjoys being clinically involved but also wants to have a broader impact on the team.

Schedule

This role follows a five-week rotation. The schedule has some flexibility, but candidates should be available for:

  • A full-time schedule
  • A minimum of two Saturdays per five-week rotation
  • Thursday and Friday coverage
  • Longer shift options, commonly including 7:00 AM-7:00 PM or 8:00 AM-7:00 PM shifts

We are happy to discuss schedule details with qualified candidates.

What We're Looking For

The right fit for this role will be someone who is clinically strong, approachable, and comfortable helping guide others. We are looking for someone who can bring structure without creating tension and accountability without losing compassion.

Strong candidates will have:

  • Current veterinary technician credentialing
  • Strong technical skills in small animal medicine
  • Surgery and anesthesia experience
  • Dentistry and dental radiography experience preferred
  • Confidence supporting doctors and teammates
  • Interest in training and mentoring others
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately
  • Positive communication style
  • Flexibility during periods of growth and change
  • Willingness to support both patient care and team operations
  • Saturday availability as part of the rotation
Why Riverside?
