Cedar Way Veterinary Clinic in New Lenox, IL is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join a three-doctor, dog- and cat-focused practice that values wisdom, humanity and empathy. The veterinary team is supported by skilled technicians, assistants and receptionists to ensure comprehensive care for pets and their owners.

The Technician role involves anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory work, nursing and client education, with opportunities to grow skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsabilités

  • Assist veterinarians in medicine, surgery and other tasks as needed.
  • Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
  • Obtain samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for labs.
  • Take, develop and maintain radiographs with proper safety procedures.
  • Assist with animal handling and restraining during exams.
  • Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines and treatments as directed.
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment and lab areas clean and stocked; assist in keeping public areas clean.
  • Demonstrate warmth and professionalism in client interactions and compassionate care for patients.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and team members about patient plans and concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

At Cedar Way Veterinary Clinic, we are pleased to offer veterinary care for small animals in New Lenox, IL, and the surrounding areas.

We are a three-doctor practice, dog and cat focused, that runs on its desire to practice medicine with wisdom, humanity, love, and empathy. Our doctors are backed by a competent team of technicians, assistants, and receptionists that ensure pets and owners complete care.

More about the Role:

The Veterinary Technician performs a critical role in providing high quality care for patients. Technicians are key partners to the veterinarians, providing the appropriate support to ensure each client interaction and procedure is seamless and successful. Technicians apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education.

Pay
Technician: $18 - $20 DOE
CVT: $21 - $24

  • Client Satisfaction: Ensuring all activities and interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as providing client education.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery.
  • Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
  • Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, patient plans, client concerns, etc.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
  • Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Pay Range:

USD $18.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.
