Veterinary Technician Assistant

CityVet is hiring Veterinary Technician Assistants with a minimum of one year of experience. Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is preferred, but entry‑level positions are also available. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician Assistant (TA) maintains excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinary Technician (VT) leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of our clients and patients. The TA helps relieve the VT from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater efficiency, and facilitates and streamlines communication from the operating room to front‑office staff and the client.

A Day In The Life

• Assists the VT in preparing patients for medical, surgical, and dental surgeries by helping with anesthesia administration and safely restraining patients.
• Effectively partners with the Veterinarian and VT teams to administer proper patient triage protocol based on client and facility needs.
• Aids VT with booked appointments, walk‑ins, and work‑ins, recording observations and treatment plans in the patient file and assisting with medical treatments under doctor supervision.
• Assists the Client Service Specialist team when needed.

Essential Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least one year of veterinary industry experience
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medication
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication & listening skills
• Self‑motivated and team‑oriented
