Job summary

CareVet of Hoschton is seeking a Veterinary Technician / Assistant to join our Hoschton, GA clinic. You will assist veterinarians, monitor patient health, take histories and vital signs, and support client education while handling medications and various in-clinic duties.

Responsibilities

• Check patient records and enter histories into the system.
• Take medical histories and record vital signs.
• Maintain client educational materials efficiently.
• Admit and discharge patients as needed.
• Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies.
• Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs.
• Administer medications as required.
• Place catheters and assist with blood draws.
• Restrain and assist doctor during exams and procedures.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; stand, bend and stoop for long periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
• Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.*
• Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.*
• Admits and discharges patients.*
• Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.*
• Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.*
• Administering medications to patients as needed.*
• Placing catheters and performing blood draws.*
• Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.*
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in Georgiaare preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
