Job summary

University of Pittsburgh seeks a Veterinary Technician within the Division of Laboratory and Animal Resources (DLAR) to assist veterinarians with medical care and colony health, support animal studies, and perform procedures under supervision. The role includes husbandry, cage wash support, and compliance with biosafety and training requirements.

Responsibilities include assisting with anesthesia, imaging, medications, and documentation while coordinating with multiple DLAR facilities.

Qualifications

• College degree in animal science or a biological science.
• Certification by AALAS or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of an AVMA CVTEA-accredited veterinary technician program.
• Licensed, certified, or registered veterinary technician status.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with veterinary medical care and maintenance of animal colony health.
• Provide animal study support and perform procedures under veterinarian direction.
• Provide animal husbandry, care, or cage wash support as needed.
• Assist with procedures, provide surgical and anesthesia support, triage cases, imaging, administer medications.
