Job summary

Ox Bottom Animal Hospital in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a veterinary technician to join our full-service practice. You will assist with restraint, triage, diagnostic imaging, lab work, medication administration, and client communication. Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-year experience preferred; CVT/RVT/LVT a bonus.
  • Weekend availability.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
  • Proficient in sample collection: blood, urine, fecal, skin.
  • Ability to set up and process laboratory samples and tests; radiographs knowledge.
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Accept constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients.
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
  • Manage nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administer medications and communicate treatment plans with clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance; anesthesia management.
  • Maintain hospital flow and record-keeping accuracy.
  • Address client questions with clear explanations.

Job description

Ox Bottom Animal Hospital is a locally owned, full service companion animal hospital that provides quality veterinary service to Tallahassee, Florida and the surrounding areas. Our friendly staff and experienced doctors specialize in preventative care, dental surgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and behavior issues.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
Additional Information

Pay Range:$17.00-$23.00/hr
