Job summary

Ox Bottom Animal Hospital in Tallahassee, FL seeks a veterinary technician to support preventative care, diagnostics, and surgery. You’ll assist with anesthesia, imaging, lab work, and client communication, while maintaining high standards of safety and patient comfort.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience preferred; CVT/RVT/LVT bonus.
  • Exceptional customer service and precise client communication.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and document history accurately.
  • Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress, safe manner.
  • Proficient in collecting blood, urine, fecal, and skin samples.
  • Set up and process laboratory tests; radiographs and dental radiographs a plus.
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • Self-starter who pursues ongoing knowledge and skill development.
  • Capable of receiving constructive feedback professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients and lab sample analysis.
  • Diagnostic imaging, nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administration of medications and communication of treatment plans to clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance; anesthesia management during procedures.
  • Maintain hospital efficiency through accurate record keeping and workflow.

Job description

Ox Bottom Animal Hospital is a locally owned, full service companion animal hospital that provides quality veterinary service to Tallahassee, Florida and the surrounding areas. Our friendly staff and experienced doctors specialize in preventative care, dental surgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and behavior issues.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
Additional Information

Pay Range:$17.00-$23.00/hr
