Job summary

Okatie Veterinary Center and Hilton Head Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to support our doctors across two South Carolina locations. The role requires willingness to work 4/10-hour shifts, Monday through Saturday, and to be based at both Okatie and Hilton Head facilities.

Salary ranges from $19 to $25 per hour, contingent on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location. Requires 3+ years of clinical veterinary experience and IV catheter placement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience in a technician or assistant role.
• Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology or Certified Veterinary Assistant program preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with cats, dogs, and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital setting.
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
• Basic understanding of common medications, vaccinations, and preventatives.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• IV catheter placement and blood draws are required.
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience (pre-, intra-, post-operative) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support doctors during patient rounds and procedures across both locations.
• Provide nursing care and monitor patients in the hospital setting.
• Assist with vaccinations, lab work, and basic diagnostics as directed by veterinarians.

are growing and looking for an experienced Full-Time Veterinary Technician to support our additional doctor days.

• Salary: $19 – $25 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.
• Schedule: Full-time, 4/10-hour shifts, Monday-Saturday. You must be willing to work at both hospital locations.

Who You Are

• 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
• Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology or Certified Veterinary Assistant program preferred but not required
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with cats, dogs, and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital setting
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
• Basic understanding of common medications, vaccinations, and preventatives
• Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Skilled in IV Catheter placement and blood draws required
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care preferred
• Laboratory skills include running in-house lab machines, using the microscope, and preparing laboratory samples
• Diagnostic experience including digital radiology
