Job summary

AmeriVet is seeking a veterinary technician to greet clients and patients, record vital signs, and assist veterinarians with routine and urgent care, including euthanasia under supervision.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of veterinary technician experience, skills in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, patient restraint, diagnostic imaging and in-house labs, plus strong communication and client education. Flexible schedule including rotating Saturdays; competitive pay and benefits offered.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins and obtain weight and vital signs.
  • Document patient visits in medical records by obtaining and recording thorough history.
  • Assist veterinarian with routine and urgent appointments, including euthanasia under supervision.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications as directed.
  • Educate clients on preventive care, dental hygiene, nutrition and scheduling follow-ups.
  • Provide in-hospital treatments including injectable/oral medications and IV therapies; assist with feeding and care as directed.

Job description

Essential Job Functions
  • Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins and obtain weight and vital signs.
  • Documentation of the patient visit in the medical record by obtaining and recording a thorough patient history.
  • Assist veterinarian with appointments (routine and urgent), and euthanasia's, taking direct supervision from the veterinarian(s) or Hospital Lead on Duty.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and collect process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian, and input in medical record.
  • Check out clients, schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctor and clients Educate clients on preventive care, dental hygiene, nutrition, and more.
  • Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous therapies; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by veterinarian), and safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
  • Collaborate with the team to create a positive work environment and assist with onboarding new employees.
  • Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning.
  • Participating in ongoing training and hospital improvement initiatives
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.00-$22.00 depending on experience and certification
