Job summary

AmeriVet Veterinary Partners in New York is seeking a licensed veterinary technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) for part-time or full-time work in a feline-focused practice. The role requires a positive attitude, strong communication, reliability, and prior veterinary experience.

In-person duties include assisting veterinarians, handling and restraining cats, administering vaccines and meds, taking X-rays, collecting lab samples, and maintaining patient records.

Qualifications

• CVT/RVT/LVT licensure or eligibility based on state requirements.
• AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
• Multi-tasking abilities and detail oriented.
• Compassion for patients and our clients.
• Good work ethic and team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines.
• Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records.
• Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
• Providing general nursing care
• Examining cats and checking vitals in preparation for the Veterinarian
• Taking X-rays of cats
• Administering first aid for emergencies; administering medication and treatments
• Monitoring cats under anesthesia

• Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant. Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.
• Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
• Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
