Job description

Collin County is seeking exceptional candidates to fill the position of a Veterinary Technician. A Veterinary Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, caring for animals and conducting health assessments. Work is performed under the direction of the Animal Services Manager.

Primary Functions

• Caring for animals by administering basic shots, deworming, and weighing them.
• Feeding and watering for all animals.
• Conducting basic health assessments.
• Observing for and treating illness.
• Maintaining animal health records by entering relevant data into computer tracking system.
• Photographing animals for records, adoption marketing, and animal listings.
• Cleaning kennel areas.
• Maintaining inventory of supplies.
• Performing other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, and office processes.
• Must have broad knowledge in the field of veterinary services, usually acquired through an Associate's degree program.
• Registered Veterinary Technician or ability to earn RVT within 6 months of hire from the Texas Association of Registered Veterinary Technicians is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
