Job summary

CityVet seeks a Veterinary Technician Assistant (VT) to join our team. The VT helps veterinarians by preparing patients for procedures, restraining animals, and supporting the front office to improve clinic efficiency.

Candidate should have at least 1 year of veterinary experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. We offer a competitive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 18 years old at time of hire.
  • At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
  • Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medications.
  • Lift 50 lbs to waist height.
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Veterinarians by prepping patients for surgery, administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, and gathering lab specimens.
  • Monitor patients post-op and restrain animals during exams.
  • Obtain samples (stool, blood, and other) for testing.
  • Test samples and help interpret results.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccines as directed by the DVM.
  • Communicate with clients and provide care instructions per the plan of care.
  • Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.

CityVet is looking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).

Responsibilities

Compensation is based on experience and education.

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

Essential Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED

A Day In The Life
  • Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
  • Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
  • Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
  • Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
  • Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
  • Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
