Job Overview
Arlington Animal Clinic is a privately owned, two‑doctor veterinary clinic located in Arlington. The clinic is equipped with an in‑house laboratory, digital radiographs (including dental x‑ray), and ultrasound. We perform surgeries, dentals, routine care and urgent care appointments.
Position: Veterinary Technician – full‑time or part‑time. Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience required; Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Professional client communication
- Detailed and accurate record‑keeping
- Laboratory procedures: hematology, urinalysis, blood chemistry, cytology (skin, ears), fecal flotation
- Diagnostic imaging and digital radiographs
- Surgical assisting; preparing and maintaining the surgical environment
- Anesthesia monitoring and endotracheal intubation
- Nursing skills: restraining patients, administering medications, providing high quality physical and psychological care during visits
- Dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs
- Pharmacy and pharmacology: preparing and dispensing medications
- Patient check‑in, vitals, exam assistance and discharge
Qualifications
- CVT preferred or minimum 2 years experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Proficient in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement
- Proficient in endotracheal intubation
- Experience with digital radiographs and dental radiographs
- Knowledge of in‑house laboratory testing (Idexx): hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, snap tests
- Knowledge of cytology (ear, skin) and fecal flotation and direct smear
- Experience with vaccine protocols for cats and dogs; heartworm/flea preventatives
- Familiar with Avimark veterinary software
- Experience with reception or phone scheduling using veterinary software
- Strong communication, good judgment, ability to manage a fast‑paced environment
- Team player and independent work capability; help with day‑to‑day hospital flow and efficiency
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
- Licensed technician – preferred
Schedule
Part‑time to full‑time. Open Monday–Friday 7:30 am‑6 pm and Saturday 9 am‑2 pm. Rotating weekends (most employees on a 4‑day work week).
Pay
$17.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
