Qualifications

  • 3+ years of veterinary experience is required.
  • LVT/CVT certification preferred for this role.

-The Veterinary Technician works closely with the Clinical Veterinarian, Operations, QA and VSRS team in supporting the treatment and care of RMS's small animals at the RMS production location.

-Monitors animal health and welfare by working in collaboration with operations and VSRS, other veterinary technicians, training, animal care technicians and other stakeholders.

-Performs daily walkthroughs of animal rooms/enclosures and serves as a point of contact for animal technicians to report concerns.

-Documents and prioritizes cases of concern, supports training efforts, and communicates with clinical staff and attending veterinarian for further directives.

-Performs technical procedures in the various departments and assists the veterinary team in all aspects of animal care.



This role will strive to create a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between Inotiv, its employees and its customers, contributing to achieving the growth of Inotiv RMS business area.

  • Observing animals for signs and or symptoms of illness or abnormal behavior, including morbidity and mortality reporting.

  • Participating in and driving health monitoring programs, including collecting and submitting samples and necropsies where needed.

  • Handling and restraining animals using positive reinforcement techniques for routine animal handling tasks.

  • Leading training initiatives e.g. animal observations, technical procedures, etc.

  • Providing mentorship, training and guidance for less experienced staff.

  • Participating in internal and external audits and regulatory site visits.

  • Socializing animals according to animal welfare requirements and assists with behavioural assessments.

  • Performing assessments and physical examinations.

  • Performing non-invasive surgeries with veterinary support.

  • Administering therapeutic modalities as directed by the veterinary and clinical staff

  • Supporting the surgical staff, including monitoring anesthesia and recovery.

  • Obtaining and submitting diagnostic samples to the laboratory.

  • Serving as health representative in other departments, e.g. behavior, hospital, shipping, quarantine and outdoor housing.

  • Participating in and providing feedback for special projects when required by management.

  • Ensuring accurate and concise communication between veterinary staff and technicians.

  • Effectively applying knowledge of regulatory requirements, guidelines and SOPs.

  • Demonstrating effective quality control and documentation skills.

  • Ensuring proper documentation of controlled substances.

  • Fulfill any other assigned duties that may be required by the business.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 + yrs experience in Veterinary or animal science field.

  • LVT/CVT licensure/certification preferred

  • Proficient with advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Experience with laboratory animals

  • Experience using Laboratory Information Management System

  • Able to follow sterile entry procedures and maintain neat, clean and safe conditions.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
