About Us
Trail Pet Hospital is a growing small animal practice dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care with compassion and integrity. We are seeking a dependable, motivated Veterinary Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
- Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats
- Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and perform patient assessments
- Draw blood from standard venous access points
- Place IV catheters and administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments
- Run in-house laboratory tests and prepare samples for outside laboratories
- Perform radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients
- Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition
- Input medical notes, treatments, and charges into the practice management system
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, nutrition, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Keep the hospital clean, organized, and stocked
- Cross-train in basic client service responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience required
- Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology, laboratory procedures, and anesthesia monitoring preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and veterinary software
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with strong attention to detail
Working Conditions
