Job summary

CityVet Career Center in Cedar Hill, TX is seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant (minimum 1 year of experience) to join our vet-led clinics. Compensation is based on experience and education.

You will assist veterinarians, prepare patients for surgery, handle samples and testing, and communicate with clients to ensure top-notch care for our patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age at hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals.
• Knowledgeable on veterinary terminology and medications.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height.
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
• Strong organizational skills and communication.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians and prep patients for surgery.
• Administer anesthesia, take x-rays, and gather lab specimens.
• Monitor patients post-op and restrain animals during exams.
• Obtain samples for testing.
• Test samples and interpret results.
• Administer medications, vaccines, or other medications per DVM.
• Provide client instructions and communicate results.
• Support Client Service Specialist team as needed.

CityVet islooking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

Essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

A day in the life:

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
• Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
• Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
• Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
