Job summary

Parkville Animal Hospital in Baltimore is seeking a full‑time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional client service. The role involves supporting veterinarians with exams, anesthesia, and recovery, and performing technical duties in a busy small‑animal practice.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of veterinary experience, be able to handle animals safely, and communicate clearly with clients.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate clearly with clients, including care instructions and status updates
• Perform technical duties such as lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Help keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Job description

Salary: $18 - $22 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: Full-time, averaging 35-40 hours per week. We offer scheduling flexibility with the option to work four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts. The schedule includes some closing shifts until 6:00 PM and a rotating pet boarding care schedule, typically requiring 1-2 hours on a weekend every 2-3 weeks.

Hospital Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-6:00 PM.
