Job summary

Thrive South Lamar is hiring a Veterinary Technician in Austin, TX. You will support appointments, diagnostics, and procedures to keep pets healthy and families informed. Training and coaching are available to help you grow in surgery and dentistry.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of veterinary technician experience.
  • Licensed veterinary technician preferred.
  • Surgical, anesthesia, and dental experience is highly preferred, but we’re open to training the right candidate with limited surgical exposure.
  • Strong patient handling, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care and patient advocacy during appointments, treatments, and procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms, room patients, obtain histories, and assist with doctor appointments and procedures.
  • Collect and process samples; run and document diagnostics to support timely care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed; support pharmacy workflows and client instruction.
  • Assist with anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry based on skill level. Including prep, monitoring, and recovery support.
  • Educate clients on individualized care plans, preventive care, Thrive Membership options, medications, and recommended treatments.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and communicate clearly with the team to support smooth patient flow.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols; keep treatment areas, exam rooms, labs, and surgical spaces clean, stocked, organized, and sterile.
  • Mentor and support fellow team members and contribute to a collaborative hospital culture.

$1000 Sign-on Bonus

Shift: 4 day, 10-hour shift with alternating Saturdays 8a-6pm

About You

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll make a daily impact by supporting appointments, diagnostics, and procedures that keep pets healthy and families informed. This role is a great fit for a tech who enjoys variety—outpatient care, lab work, client education, and surgical support—with training and coaching available to help you grow.

Your Experience & Skills
  • 1+ year of veterinary technician experience
  • Veterinary technician licensure preferred
