Job summary

St. Anna Vet Clinic in Wisconsin is seeking a Veterinary Technician to perform medical tests in a laboratory environment, prepare vaccines, collect samples, and assist with radiographs and dental work. You will also help maintain equipment and ensure surgical prep areas are ready.

Responsibilities include patient care during recovery, assisting veterinarians with procedures, handling medications and supplies, and providing excellent client communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• General understanding of animal physiology and veterinary terminology.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Maintains controlled drug inventory and related logbooks.
• Administers anesthesia to animals under the direction of a veterinarian and monitor animals’ responses to anesthetics so dosages can be adjusted.
• Cares for and monitors the condition of animals recovering from surgery and administers emergency first aid as needed.
• Performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces to assist in diagnosis and treatment.
• Fills prescriptions, measures medications and labels containers.
• Takes and develops diagnostic radiographs and performs dental work (cleaning, polishing, extracting).
• Prepares treatment rooms for surgery and cleans kennels, holding areas, and exam rooms.
• Provides veterinarians with equipment and instruments; cleans and sterilizes instruments and materials.
• Assists with animal euthanasia and disposal of remains.
• Provides information on animal health care, behavior, and nutrition.
• Dresses and sutures wounds and applies splints and protective devices.
• Performs office, clerical, and accounting duties such as reception, billing, and selling products.
