Job summary

Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks a Veterinary Surgery Supervisor in Annapolis, MD. The role provides daily administrative and operational leadership for the Surgery Department, coordinating staffing, patient flow, and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care.

The position requires at least 3 years of veterinary technician experience, MD RVT preferred, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Maryland RVT preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 3 years veterinary technician experience.
• Minimum of 2 years specialty anesthesia monitoring or comparable critical-care experience.
• Previous supervisory, management, lead, or department-coordination experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily Surgery Department workflow, assignments, schedules, and patient flow.
• Assign cases and duties according to patient needs, staffing, workload, and employee competency.
• Adjust assignments during emergencies, absences, high patient volume, or increased patient acuity.
• Communicate operational concerns, delays, equipment needs, and staffing risks to the Hospital Manager or appropriate hospital leadership.
• Maintain organized, safe, and adequately supplied surgery and recovery areas.
• Support effective shift-to-shift communication and patient handoffs.
• Monitor equipment readiness and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Promote compliance with CVSS policies, safety procedures, infection-control standards, and documentation requirements.
