Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health in Asheville is seeking a board-certified veterinary surgeon (or surgical resident) to join our growing specialty service.

You will balance consultations, advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, and collaboration with emergency and critical care teams in a state‑of‑the‑art 34,000 sq. ft. facility.

This role offers leadership opportunities, mentorship, and professional development within Ethos and the NVA network.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Surgery (DACVS) or completion of a surgical residency.
  • Strong surgical skills and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Balance time between consultations, case workups, and surgical procedures.
  • Perform orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries using available imaging and surgical equipment.
  • Collaborate with other specialties to support integrated case management.
  • Help shape and grow the surgical service in line with hospital priorities.
  • Work alongside a dedicated surgical nursing and support team.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners throughout the surgical process.
  • Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

In your day to day, you will:
