Job summary

Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon is seeking a Sterile Processor to uphold high standards of cleanliness and infection control. Responsibilities include sterilizing instruments, preparing surgical packs, drafting SOPs, conducting quality checks, and training staff to ensure safe operations.

The role requires knowledge of sterilization techniques, equipment maintenance, and accurate record-keeping in a veterinary setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing or related field preferred.
• Experience in a veterinary hospital or healthcare setting is advantageous.
• Strong infection control knowledge and practices required.
• Familiarity with sterilization techniques, equipment, and disinfectants.
• Ability to document procedures accurately and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment to clean and disinfect instruments.
• Assemble and prepare sterile surgical packs with labeled, organized packs.
• Draft, review, and update SOPs for sterilization and infection control.
• Conduct routine quality checks and keep sterilization records up to date.
• Inspect and maintain sterilization equipment; coordinate repairs as needed.
• Collaborate with veterinary team to maintain instrument readiness and safety.
• Maintain organized inventory of sterile supplies and reorder as required.
• Train staff on sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
