Job summary

The ASPCA's Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in Weaverville, NC seeks a Senior Director, Veterinary Services to lead veterinary care, clinical case management, and cross‑functional operations for dogs in behavior modification programs. This role also provides shelter medicine consultation and mentorship across Shelter Medicine Services.

Qualifications

• Current veterinary license in one or more states; NC license required within 60 days.
• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical veterinary experience.
• Minimum 3 years of robust shelter medicine experience.
• Board certification in Shelter Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee veterinary assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical case management for dogs in the BRC’s care, integrating medical care with behavioral rehabilitation goals.
• Provide timely, practical, compassionate, and cost-efficient veterinary care following shelter medicine principles.
• Lead BRC leadership, cross-functional partnership, and staff development.
• Mentor shelter medicine residents, veterinarians, and shelter professionals through consultative work and training.
• Ensure licensure, continuing education, controlled-substance compliance, and appropriate medical documentation.
