Job summary

Clemson University Vet Services is seeking a Veterinary Services Assistant to support daily operations, client interactions, and ambulatory/clinic activities. Under supervision of veterinarians, the role includes animal care, field service support, and administrative tasks within the Vet Services team.

Responsibilities include assisting with client education, handling animals, and maintaining records. The position may involve after-hours support and on-call duties as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and experience in agricultural research or animal care related to the job area.
• An associate degree in animal health technology or related agriculture may substitute for the required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous and professional customer service to Vet Services clients.
• Communicate appointment and service logistics information.
• Assist with client education using approved materials and veterinarian instructions.
• Support outreach and client education activities with veterinarians and students.
• Follow protocols for animal handling, safety, and infection control.
• Maintain accurate medical, inventory, equipment, and service-call records.
• Enter and update information in the electronic medical record system as directed.
• Move and care for animals and assist with non-licensed duties under supervision.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating service calls and paperwork.
• Participate in after-hours or on-call rotations as assigned.
