Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists seeks a Radiation Oncologist to join an established oncology service, leveraging a Varian Halcyon system and advanced imaging. You will work with a collaborative team across medical oncology, surgery, diagnostic imaging, and internal medicine to deliver precise radiation therapy for diverse veterinary patients.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state licensure.
  • Board Certification in Radiation Oncology or Residency Trained.
  • Strong communication and client-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced radiation oncology care for a diverse caseload of veterinary patients.
  • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with the oncology team.
  • Utilize the Varian Halcyon system and advanced imaging to support planning and treatment.
  • Collaborate with Medical Oncology, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Critical Care and other services.
  • Build relationships with referring veterinarians through consultation and education.
  • Mentor interns, residents, and the support team.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly with pet owners throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

Job description

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) is seeking a Radiation Oncologist to join our established Radiation Oncology service and become part of a highly collaborative team of specialists. You’ll have the opportunity to provide advanced radiation therapy while working alongside Medical Oncology, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and other specialty services.

At GCVS, you’ll do more than practice—you’ll grow, collaborate, and help shape what’s possible in veterinary medicine. You’ll work in an environment where advanced medicine, mentorship, and teamwork come together to deliver an exceptional experience for both patients and clinicians. Our 60,000-square-foot hospital features a Varian Halcyon radiation therapy system capable of advanced radiation therapy modalities, onsite MRI, an Interventional Radiology Suite, and a broad range of specialty services to support comprehensive patient care.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Provide advanced radiation oncology care for a diverse caseload of veterinary patients.
  • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with the broader oncology team.
  • Utilize the Varian Halcyon radiation therapy system and advanced imaging capabilities to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Oncology, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and other specialty services.
  • Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians through consultation, communication, and continuing education.
  • Participate in clinical education and mentorship of interns, specialty interns, residents, and support team members.
  • Work closely with LVTs, technicians, and client service coordinators to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners throughout diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Radiation Oncology or Residency Trained in Radiation Oncology.
