Vista Veterinary Specialists in Sacramento, California, is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join our growing 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital. This full-time position offers base compensation of $220,000–$250,000 and a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment within the Ethos Veterinary Health network.

You’ll provide advanced ophthalmic care to a diverse referral caseload, utilize CT, ultrasound, digital radiography, and in-house laboratory

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced ophthalmic care to a diverse referral caseload.
  • Diagnose and develop comprehensive treatment plans for ophthalmic conditions.
  • Collaborate with other services (ECC, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology).
  • Utilize CT, ultrasound, digital radiography, and in‑house lab services.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, options, and prognosis.
  • Help grow and develop ophthalmology services within Vista.

In your day-to-day, you will
  • Provide advanced ophthalmic care to a diverse referral caseload
  • Diagnose and develop comprehensive treatment plans for ophthalmic conditions
  • Collaborate with Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, and other services
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities, including CT, ultrasound, digital radiography, and in‑house laboratory services
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis
  • Develop strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted ophthalmology resource for the community
  • Work closely with experienced veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care
  • Contribute to the growth and development of ophthalmology services at Vista
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities through Vista and the broader Ethos network
  • Help foster a collaborative, positive, and team‑focused hospital culture
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
  • Board certification in Veterinary Ophthalmology or completion of an ophthalmology residency with eligibility for board certification
  • Eligibility for veterinary licensure in California
