The Oncology service benefits from a dedicated clinical workspace equipped with a CBC analyzer, biological safety cabinet, and double-headed microscope, supporting efficient patient care alongside collaboration, teaching, and continued professional development.

The successful oncologist will work within a multidisciplinary environment supported by Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, and advanced surgical services, providing excellent resources for managing complex oncology patients.

This advanced 19,000-square-foot emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Oklahoma City provides 24/7 care to a substantial referral region encompassing Oklahoma City, Edmond, Enid, Guthrie, Lawton, Midwest City, Mustang, Moore, Norman, Shawnee, Yukon, North Texas, and the Texas Panhandle.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced oncology consultations and specialty patient care

• Diagnose, stage, and manage a broad range of veterinary cancers

• Develop individualized oncology treatment plans

• Manage patients receiving chemotherapy and other appropriate medical oncology treatments

• Monitor treatment response and adjust therapeutic plans where required

• Utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and laboratory resources for cancer staging and monitoring

• Interpret relevant laboratory, imaging, cytology, and pathology findings

• Provide ongoing management and follow-up for oncology patients

• Collaborate with Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Anesthesia, and other specialty services

• Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans for complex oncology patients

• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, quality of life, and ongoing care

• Maintain effective communication with referring veterinarians

• Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records

• Work closely with veterinary technicians and clinical support professionals

• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and collaborative learning opportunities

• Participate in continuing education and professional development

Candidate Profile

Applicants should be a Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist or have completed an approved veterinary oncology residency and be eligible for board certification.

Candidates should hold, or be eligible to obtain, the appropriate veterinary license required to practice in Oklahoma.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical and diagnostic skills alongside the ability to manage complex oncology patients within a multidisciplinary specialty environment.
