Job summary

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, a United Veterinary Care Partner hospital, seeks a full-time Kennel Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in Dennis and Buzzards Bay, MA. The role offers training opportunities and a path into nursing skills within a caring, team-focused environment.

The position features a schedule that includes weekends, swings, and nights, with paid PTO/holidays and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401K.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 50 pounds and be on your feet most of the day.
• Ability to learn various veterinary software programs.
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of patient care.
• Excellent clear communication and a professional, pleasant demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assist the client care team by answering telephones and helping callers with questions or emergencies.
• Admit and discharge patients to the hospital efficiently while maintaining the hospital flow.
• Restrain pets for medical treatments and diagnostics as ordered by the doctor.
• Keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean, stocked, and organized for incoming patients.
• Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds.
• Disinfect pet cages after use.
• Perform in-house blood work and prepare samples for outside lab processing.
• Launder and restock patient bedding and maintain hospital cleanliness.
• Be willing to cross-train in other areas when necessary.
