Job summary

City Veterinary Care in New York City seeks a kennel technician to care for our hospitalized and boarding patients, perform cleaning, feeding, medicating, and help maintain a clean, safe environment.

You will restock supplies, assist veterinarians and staff, document medications and observations, and learn to sterilize instruments. Prior experience is helpful; training is provided. Pay ranges $16–$20 per hour with benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Ability to restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Willingness to administer medications and follow written directions.
• Able to perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags, etc.).
• Maintain calm, caring handling of sick or injured animals.
• Learn to follow oral and written instructions and cooperate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in hospital and boarding facility; feed, medicate, and clean.
• Restock hospital supplies and assist with post-operative patients.
• Assist doctors and staff with animal restraint and examinations.
• Maintain accurate medication records and note animal appetite, behavior, and issues.
• Learn to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.
