Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ is seeking a Veterinary Instrument Assistant to support our surgery team in a high-volume specialty and emergency hospital. The role focuses on instrument prep, sterilization, packing, inventory, and maintaining sterile environment.

Ideal candidate has 1+ year in a specialty setting, strong organizational skills, and a team-oriented attitude. State-of-the-art facility with 24/7 coverage and dedicated specialists.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a specialty veterinary hospital preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical instruments for scheduled procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
• Assemble and wrap surgical packs and maintain accurate instrument inventories.
• Stock and organize surgical supplies, treatment areas, and operating rooms.
• Monitor equipment condition and report any damage or maintenance needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection-control standards throughout surgery

About GSVS

We are a multispecialty practice with boarded veterinary specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Rehabilitation, and Ophthalmology. We have also been treating felines with hyperthyroid disease with radioactive iodine since 2001! We are also proud to have two technicians here at GSVS with their VTS’s in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Veterinary Instrument Assistants

at Garden State Veterinary Specialists play a vital role in supporting our surgery department by working closely with veterinary technicians, emergency doctors, and board-certified specialists. This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments, equipment, and treatment areas are properly cleaned, sterilized, organized, and ready for patient care. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence help maintain the highest standards of patient safety and surgical efficiency.

On Any Given Day, You Can Expect To
