Job summary

SAVES Hospital, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks a Hospital Director of Operations to lead day-to-day operations with a focus on clinical excellence and financial performance. This role reports into Ethos Field Leadership and emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with support centers and JV partners.

The successful candidate will direct strategic initiatives, drive innovation, and build a high-performing team dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care in Asheville.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree is a plus (MHA/MBA).
• 5-10+ years of senior leadership experience in veterinary hospital operations, healthcare, or multi-specialty settings.
• Experience in matrixed organizations with cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience managing hospital financials, budgeting, and full P&L accountability.

• Envision the hospital’s future in line with Ethos Veterinary Health’s mission and care delivery.
• Make high-quality, evidence-informed decisions shaping long-term strategy.
• Lead through complexity and ambiguity with clarity of direction.
• Drive hospital innovation by adopting new technologies, systems, and best practices.
• Lead continuous improvement to streamline workflows and improve patient and client experience.
• Use data and KPIs to guide decisions and improve hospital-wide effectiveness.
• Foster cross-functional partnerships with referral networks and community stakeholders.
• Develop and lead a high-performing team through coaching and learning.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and the hospital’s P&L to ensure sustainability.
• Collaborate with Ethos Leadership to align hospital goals and performance.
• Inspire teams and maintain a culture of trust, accountability, and growth.
