Job summary

A leading veterinary healthcare provider is offering an externship for third- or fourth-year veterinary students. This program provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting and observe surgical and diagnostic procedures. Students will work alongside experienced veterinarians and specialists in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be third- or fourth-year students of accredited veterinary schools.
• Willingness to work in a clinical environment alongside experienced clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-life clinical experience in a veterinary setting.
• Apply knowledge and skills in hands-on situations.
• Practice or observe various diagnostic and surgical procedures.

Skills

Hands-on skills (TPR, examinations, anesthesia)

Understanding of surgical procedures

Familiarity with ultrasound

Overview

Applicants must be third- or fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.

Externship details

An externship experience at an Ethos hospital gives students real-life clinical experience in a single or multi-specialty hospital, and the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced clinicians, board-certified specialists, current interns, and residents. Hands-on skills that may be practiced or observed include TPRs, examinations, anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures as they are available.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Avets are designed for clinical year students.
