Brykerwood Veterinary Clinic in Austin, TX invites veterinary externs to gain real-world experience in medicine, surgery, and dentistry while working side-by-side with our DVMs and support staff.

Location: Austin, TX; Duration: typically 2–4 weeks with flexible scheduling for students in 3rd- and 4th-year DVM programs.

Stipend: up to $1,500 for eligible clinical-year students, with opportunities to sharpen clinical skills and client communication in a family‑like, collaborative practice.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and perform physical exams
• Assist with diagnostic workups and develop treatment plans
• Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures (based on experience)
• Dental cleanings and oral health assessments
• In-house lab work and imaging
• Medical management of cases
• Client communication and teamwork with staff
