Job summary

Animal Care Center of Downers Grove invites veterinary students to participate in a clinical externship within an NVA hospital environment. You will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on experience in history taking, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery.

Externships range from two to eight weeks, with travel/living stipends offered. All veterinary students are encouraged to participate, regardless of class year.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled veterinary student
• Interest in hands-on clinical experience
• Willingness to work with supervising veterinarians and hospital staff

Responsibilities

• Assist with gathering patient histories and performing physical exams
• Contribute to creation of treatment plans and diagnostics
• Assist or perform dental services and surgical procedures under supervision
• Observe and assist in surgeries and medical management of patients
• Support communication with the medical team, staff, and clients
