Job summary

Animal Medical Care Center Yorktown, an NVA hospital, invites veterinary students to participate in a Veterinary Externship. Externs will work with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on experience in patient histories, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgeries.

Externships typically run two to eight weeks, with opportunities to strengthen communication with the medical team and clients.

Qualifications

• Externship at an NVA hospital provides exposure to day-to-day practice.
• Gain experience in histories, exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgeries.
• Develop communication with the medical team, staff, and clients.
• Travel/living expense stipend available for veterinary students.
• An additional $500 travel stipend is offered for externships at this hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on clinical experience.
• Observe or perform procedures and assist with medical management of patients.
• Engage with clients to support communication and care planning.
